In observance of Mental Health Awareness Month, on May 11, 2013, Family Services of Davidson County (FSDC) will host the 2nd Annual 10K. & 3.6 Mi

Our goal for this event is to bring Davidson County and the surrounding communities together to raise awareness and to advance services provided through FSDC.

Additional Details:

The 1st Annual Family Services of Davidson County Davidson Doozie 10K & 3.6 Mi race will be held on May 11, 2013.

The 10K USATF certified race course will wind through beautiful Davidson County and is sure to be a challenge . This year we have added a shorter 3.6 mile option, as well.

The event will be fun for runners and families alike.

All proceeds for the race support life changing counseling and support services provided to children and families, especially those coping with family violence, trauma, and issues of sexual abuse.

Register, volunteer, or donate now at fsdc.org and help change the route for families!

Race Shirt:

Runners and Sleep-In participants who register by April 30th will receive a heavy-weight cotton race t-shirt.

Additional shirts will be available race day and at packet pick-up, however sizes will be based on a first come first serve basis.

Register early to be sure to get a race shirt.

Schedule of Events:

Advanced Check-in will be held on Friday, May 10 from 5 - 7 pm at Family Services of Davidson County, 1303 Greensboro St. Ext. Lexington, NC 27295. Those who come to advanced check-in will not have any line to wait in on race morning.

Race day packet pickup and registration begins at 7 am at Family Services.

Race Course:

The Davidson Doozie runs through the open roads of beautiful Davidson County.

Both the 10K and 3.6 mile routes make a full circle from the start line. The Doozie is a tough and rewarding race.

Inaugural race participants commented on the Doozie being a challenge, yet all said they were proud to have successfully completed the course. The 3.6 mile route has been added in 2013 to afford more folks the opportunity to participate.

Timing & Awards:

The race will utilize start-of-the-art disposable bib-chip timing by www.PrecisionRace.com

Runners can register to receive a text message with their results as they cross the finish line. You can also see and print your personal results at the Precision Race touch-screen Results Kiosks.

Prize categories include overall top male and female along with top male and female in the following age groups:. 18 & Under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+

Race prizes will be local pottery from Mission's Pottery.

Sleep In Option:

If you're not a runner, but you want to support the Davidson County Family Services, you can register for the Sleep In option.

Sleep In participants receive a race shirt. You can pick your shirt up at the race or during the following week at the Davidson County Family Services office.
