Jul 29, 2006 - Cary, NC
2nd Annual Cup 'n Cone Tour - a Premier National MS Society Fundraiser Ride.
Ride begins at 8:00 AM.
New Route for 2006!
This year we have a terrific new route. Cyclists will have the choice of 3 distances: 27 mile, 50 mile (half century) and 63 mile (metric century) routes. All routes start at Goodberrys in Cary and head out to Jordan Lake. The new 50 and 63 mile routes continue on with a challenging climb up the "col de Lystra" triple-hump-hill on Lystra Road and then into "downtown" Carrboro. The 63 mile route continues on to the quiet roads of Orange County to Maple View Farm. Dedicated SAG vehicles will be available at the first rest stop to transport cyclists who want to skip the Lystra Rd climb. Total climb for the 63 mile route is about 2,400'. The return ride is easier than the ride out.
New! Enjoy breakfast bagels and muffins courtesy of our sponsor Cafe Carolina and Bakery.
The fully supported ride provides marked routes, cue sheet, SAG, and rest stops with food, drink, and porta-johns. There will be 1 rest stop on the 27-mile route, 3 on the 50-mile, and 5 rest stops on the 63-mile route.
These are no ordinary rest stops. At the mid-points, 50- and 63-mile riders will enjoy free ice cream from Maple View Farm Dairy Store in Orange County. At the finish, all cyclists will enjoy free Goodberry's frozen custard. Rest stops are also stocked with fruit, snacks, water, and sports drink.
Which is better - Maple View Farm ice cream or Goodberry's Frozen Custard? Do the ride and then decide.
