Grove Winery presents the 2008 Gears & Cheers Bike Ride with fully supported 25- and 40-mile route options through the rolling countryside of Guilford and Rockingham Counties. The ride will begin and end at the winery located north of Elon on the Haw River Wine Trail and features historic Chinqua Penn Plantation on the 40-mile route.

Registration includes ride support, lunch, event glass, and beverage at winery featuring the music of Expresso Brasil, vineyard tours, picnicking and more. $35 (40 after May 21).

Friends and family welcome! Non-rider lunch package including meal, event glass and complimentary beverage available, $15 ($20 after May 21). Fun for everyone.

Check-in 7:30am, ride starts 9am.

New this year - Pre-ride party and registration packet pick-up, Friday, 5-8pm May 30 at cycles de ORO in Greensboro and TREK BICYCLE in Raleigh. Come to toast and boast! Grove Winery wines and refreshments served.

Refunds/Inclement Weather:	Registration fees are non-refundable. In case of inclement weather, we reserve the right to cancel the ride for safety reasons. However, if the ride is canceled, Grove Winery will remain open and lunches, beverages, and event glasses will be distributed. Other non-cycling activities such as music, vineyard tours, etc. will proceed as weather permits.
Safety:	HELMETS and WAIVER of liability are required the day of the event. Rules of the Road: ALERT your fellow cyclists. Call out road hazards, “on your left” when passing, “car back,” “gravel,” etc. Remember that you are responsible not only for yourself but for the safety of everyone you are riding with. BE PREDICTABLE with no sudden unannounced movements. Try not to apply the brakes when in front of a large group unless you give plenty of notice. OBEY ALL TRAFFIC LAWS like any other vehicle on the road. ALWAYS stay to the right half of the lane passing others on the left only. Never cross the yellow line. REMAIN HIGHLY ALERT when riding in pace lines and especially cautious when riding in pace lines with cyclists you have not regularly trained with. Do not ride two abreast in double pace lines. GROVE WINERY ENCOURAGES RESPONSIBLE CYCLING. Please don’t ride or drive while under the influence of alcohol.

Directions from Chapel Hill, Durham, Raleigh:	1. From I-40/I-85, take Exit 140, right at top of ramp, go 2.9 mi. 2. When road ends, take right on Burlington Rd, go 0.1 mi. 3. Left on Hwy 100 East (University Dr) go 1.1 mi. 4. Left on Shallowford Church Rd, go less than 0.1 mi. 5. Take first left on Elon-Ossippe Rd, go 3.7 mi. 6. Left on Old 87, go 0.9 mi. 7.
