Sep 19, 2009 - Salem, VA
If you have yet to take the Marine Mud Run Challenge, you're missing out on the cleanest fun you'll ever have with a 5K race! As you will see from the pictures on our web site, it's a pretty muddy affair. Many folks ask, just how tuff is the course? We reply, it's as hard or easy as you want it to be! We have semi-pro runners down to the neighbor next door that has never entered a 5k race. Individual and 5 Person Team races and a Pollywog Jog for 12 yrs. and under. One thing is for sure if you run this race the Marines will see to it that you finish it. Part of the Marines creed is to never leave another Marine behind. And for this event we will never leave a runner behind!
Race times: 5k Individual Race 9:15 am
Pollywog Jog 10:30 am
Team Race 5k 11:30 am
Runners will be required to be at the race site no later than one and a half hours prior to your race. The races will run on time with or without you. You should give yourself adequate time to park, pick up your race packet, and to install the race chip properly and securely to your shoe.

| Packet Pickup: |
You should pick up your race packet 90 minutes before your race time at Greenhill Park. We will take race day entry forms. The races will start on time and cannot be delayed for any individuals or teams |
| The Timing Chip: |
We use digital timing chips for the mud run. With this technology, we will be able to track each individual runner and team captain with accuracy and precision. We will have race times posted shortly after your race. REMEMBER AWARD MEDALS GIVE TO TOP 3 RUNNERS IN EACH CATEGORY SHORTLY AFTER EACH RACE. DON'T FORGET YOURS IF YOU QUALIFIED. |
| Installing the Chip: |
All individual 5k runners and team captains will receive a timing chip in their race packets. Please install this chip to your right shoe. There will be a hospital band enclosed in your packet, use this band to secure the chip to your shoe lace. Please insure the band does not have any slack so that the chip doesn't move around. Excess movement may bother you while you run. Remember, you must have the chip fastened to your shoe in order to have your time tracked properly. Do not lose the shoe with the chip, in the mud pit! Any lost chips will result in an additional charge of $30.00 to the runner. Note: You must pass over the magnetic black mat at the finish line with your chip fastened to your shoe to be timed. Otherwise, you will be disqualified. |
| Finish Line Results: |
We have contracted Queen City Timing, Inc. from Charlotte, NC to handle the finish line results. They will be tracking all runners with the champion chip racing system. This is an ID computer chip that is fastened to the runner's shoe. This chip will track individual runners and supply us with accurate race times. Using this system provides fast and accurate run times. In fact, we can get the results to you shorthly after the race. |
