For nearly 15 years, the Charlotte Run for Peace at Home has raised funds to benefit community domestic violence programs. Proceeds from our event support the United Family Services Domestic Violence Program.
The 5K trail at McAlpine offers open flats and challenging hills for runners to navigate. Competitive and non-competitive participants will enjoy the scenic beauty that a Charlotte Spring can offer. Starting times for men’s and women’s events will be staggered, and all will join together for the awards ceremony. Participants are encouraged to cheer each other on throughout the events.
You will receive a commemorative t-shirt and prize-pack complete with products donated by our sponsors. Early pick-up instructions will be posted on our website closer to the day of the event. Packets will also be available on race day. No t-shirt guaranteed for participants registering after April 20, 2010.
Trophies will be rewarded to the top 3 male and female runners in each division for the 5K timed race.
The Run for Peace has been a part of the Charlotte community for nearly 15 years. It began as a 10-mile race winding through the curves and hills of South Park. Later, as a marathon, it connected the campuses of Davidson and Queens College. As the reputation of the event evolved, the Run for Peace hosted Charlotte’s premier marathon event that journeyed to our very own Uptown. This year marks our fourth annual trail run/walk at McAlpine Creek Greenway.
While the landscapes and distances of our race have changed, our road ahead has always been clear: “Peace begins at home.”

* Omega Sports (Park Road Shopping Center): Register in person from 5-8pm on Friday, April 30. This will allow you to avoid waiting in a line on the day of the event.
