May 29, 2010 - Chapel Hill, NC
Join us for this inaugural event traveling well-liked roads through the rolling hills of Orange County and Alamance County and surrounding areas. This is a pick-up ride, everyone is welcome.
The 100 mile ride will start at 7:30am at McDougle Middle School. There are many stores along the route. See the cue sheets at bikespringfest.com.
The 20 and 50 mile rides start at 9:30 am.
The ride is free and unsupported. There will be a waiver to fill out and cue sheets available. Bring your own food and water. There are two places to get water/food along the 50 mile route at ~24 at your own cost and ~34 miles. The 20 mile route does not come across any gas stations until mile 18.
Also all three courses are marked on the road. The green arrows designate the 100 mile ride, the red arrows the 50 and blue are for the 20 mile route.
Please email me if you will be going, so that I can send you updates and have enough cue sheets.
This event will be held rain or shine. Riders must wear a helmet and obey traffic laws. I assume no liability.
An optional donation will go to an individual, Marty Franklin, who had a bad motocross accident and needs the money to cover medical expenses. He broke 17 bones in his upper body and has a dropped shoulder as a result of his accident. I hope you will come out and support him. There will be a jar at the start of the ride and you can donate then.
I am also accepting donations to the National Society of Multiple Sclerosis, Eastern NC Chapter. Again checks are best.
I would love to see this ride grow in the future to have all of the benefits that go with supported rides.
